How Does CoolSculpting Stack Up

Unfortunately, there’s not a magic pill for weight loss. If only it were that simple and that easy. Most of us have to turn to other means to get in shape and get rid of any extra weight we might carry. Even then, certain kinds of fat are more stubborn than others and diet and exercise don’t always produce the results we want. It’s situations like this that cause people to consider options like liposuction or CoolSculpting.

So how does CoolSculpting stack up with other surgical weight loss or body sculpting techniques?

Liposuction and tummy tucks work great for men or women who are generally healthy, meaning they are not significantly overweight, but have extra skin or stubborn fat deposits, perhaps as a result from pregnancy or weight loss. Liposuction, with or without a tummy tuck, is generally best suited for individuals who have disproportionate contours due to fat deposits that don’t respond to diet and exercise. Liposuction can provide some drastic results for the right individuals.

Liposuction does have its risks, albeit small risks. Liposuction is a surgical procedure, which means it involves incisions and some mild discomfort after the procedure. You have to wear compression garments for several weeks to help your body heal.  And it will generally require some recovery time off from work and normal daily activities.  But the results merit the means for most people.

CoolSculpting, on the other hand, can provide similar results, just not on the same scale. The CoolSculpting procedure is best suited for individuals who are near their ideal weight, but have isolated areas of fat deposits, most commonly on the abdomen, back, hips or thighs.

CoolSculpting works by freezing fat cells to the point of critical injury. Once crystallized, the body naturally removes these dying fat cells, meaning the targeted area appears slimmer and tighter. No scars, no incisions, no needles. Just results.

Both CoolSculpting and liposuction get results for our patients. However, depending on your situation, either CoolSculpting or liposuction with a tummy tuck may be a better option for you.
