CoolSculpting Salt Lake City
CoolSculpting is a fat-reduction procedure that needs zero needles, knives, or recovery time to produce dramatic results. Instead, CoolSculpting uses targeted cooling to produce completely non-invasive and long-lasting fat reduction. You can read, work, or even nap while the brief procedure is performed and return to your work and exercise regimens immediately afterwards.
The conceptual birth of CoolSculpting occurred from a dermatologist’s curiosity of the cause of popsicle panniculitus, a condition of fat loss in the cheeks caused in children from having popsicles in their mouths too long. He connected the dots when he realized that fat freezes before water or skin, akin to how butter solidifies sooner than water. He realized that it was possible to safely freeze away fat deposits.
This scientist then developed an FDA-approved technique to carefully chill fat deposits in the stomach and love handles to a specific temperature to naturally kill fat cells while leaving the rest of your tissue unharmed. After the treatment, the frozen fat cells are gradually removed by your body’s natural system, resulting in noticeably reduced bulge after a few weeks.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Am I a good candidate for CoolSculpting?
This procedure is not designed for overweight individuals needing weight loss, but instead is for people who are close to their ideal weight and who live a healthy lifestyle including a diet and exercise regimen. If you have stubborn bulges that won’t respond to healthy diet and exercise, CoolSculpting can help.
- What will the results be?
Each treatment reduces fat by 20% in targeted areas on average. Patients see first results in three weeks with complete results two to four months after treatment. Many patients get their desired results after a single treatment. However, we will work with you to formulate a customized plan for your specific needs.
- What happens during the treatment?
We start by placing the device over your target area. Then the targeted bulge is drawn up between two cooling panels by suction. This sensation isn’t painful; it’s a firm pull and pressure from the panels—enough of a pull to ensure the selected tissue will be cooled most efficiently. The bulge is treated for an hour or two, depending on your needs.
- Can I return to normal activities after the procedure?
CoolSculpting is completely non-surgical, so typically you can return to normal activities immediately. Some patients experience redness, minor bruising, tingling, numbness or discomfort in the treated area, but this is temporary and will resolve completely. Often times, patients return to work after the session is over.
- When will I see results?
You can notice changes as soon as three weeks after treatment. However, it takes time for your body to flush fat cells, so you will notice full results after one to three months. Your body will continue to flush fat cells as long as four to six months after treatment.
- Are the results permanent?
CoolSculpting eliminates fat cells, so as long as you eat right, exercise, and otherwise keep a healthy lifestyle, your results should remain stable.
